PetFetch.io collects listings from many different shelters in the ChicagoLand area and provides a single place to search listings and set up filter-based subscriptions.

PetFetch.io was created to solve our own needs. We had just moved into a Chicago apartment that allowed dogs, and had begun the process of trying to find the perfect puppy to bring into our home. We both had strong (and not entirely overlapping) opinions about the sort of breed that we were looking for, but we knew that we wanted to adopt from a local shelter.

After a few months of re-reviewing the shelter webpages, attempting to recall which listings were new, and showing up at the shelter only to that the pet-of-interest had already been adopted, we decided to automate the discovery process. The initial script emailed us every day with the new dogs that had been added to the two shelters that we were frequenting. A few weeks later, Poppy joined our family.

PetFetch.io is an expansion of this email script. By subscribing to the daily email notification, you can receive regular batches of new pets that are available for adoption at local Chicagoland shelters, without ever having to manually check each shelter's page individually.
